The Sleep-Ins

The Sleep-Ins

The Sleep-Ins are not your typical indie band. Their debut album Songs About Girls and Outer Space manages to weave in and out between strong, yet intricate, alternative rhythms and synthy, distorted melodies. Their spacey experimental rhythms and guitar riffs, in combination with their softer, more haunting, vocals, are reminiscent of Radiohead, Pinback or Silversun Pickups (“Silver State” or “Angelina”), while their heavy, dissonant soundscapes scream of The Strokes or Modest Mouse (“Tonya, Extraplanetary Spaceship Girl”). The Sleep-Ins are the perfect example of a band who knows how to intrigue its audience without going off the deep end. This Australian indie rock group is in the midst of finding their own sound and are definitely worthy of being kept on your radar.
